KEY BISCAYNE
FLORIDA
Key Biscayne, Florida’s southernmost barrier island, is a lush tropical island spanning four miles long and two miles wide amid the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay and is known as one of the most beautiful and distinctive areas in South Florida.
The island of Key Biscayne is home to the Village of Key Biscayne which lies in the center of the island encompassing 1.25 square miles, bordered to the north by Miami-Dade’s preserved Crandon Park and to the south by Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. After its incorporation in 1991, the Village of Key Biscayne became a self-governed village and remains to this day. The Village is home to approximately 12,500 people and a variety of luxury real estate including oceanfront condos, such as the ultra, ultra-luxe Oceana Key Biscayne, along with single-family homes. The island holds a distinctive, cool vibe complete with locals getting around by golf cart. “The Key,” as most refer to it, also offers a variety of shopping centers including retail and office space, along with many parks, recreation, a public library and one of the most prestigious private schools in South Florida, MAST Academy.
Whether you live on the island or are visiting from out of town, the island of Key Biscayne is a popular and relaxing retreat. Many people flock to Key Biscayne for the awesome golf course at Crandon Park, basking in the sun on the sandy beaches surrounded by natural park landscaping, visiting the historical lighthouse, having dinner and drinks at the waterfront Rusty Pelican or attending the famous tennis tournaments such as the famed Miami Open.
Key Biscayne is truly a tropical paradise, an island retreat of swaying palm trees in the cool breezes off the ocean and bay, and with blue skies and sunny beaches, it is high on the list of top places to live in South Florida.
